Abstract
Arena Sub-Pub, an initiative organized by the Arena publishing house, made printing devices available to (theoretically) everyone. This idea of autonomy, this do-it-yourself-philosophy, this institutional critique as well as the creation of autonomous spaces, grew directly out of the ideas of democratisation of the arts in the 1960s, but Arena Sub-Pub could also be regarded as a consequence of the crisis in the Danish publishing industry in the late 1960s, which resulted in a lack of desire to publish new authors from the younger generation.
