Abstract
Climate change, including more frequent extreme weather events and rising temperatures, has presented a challenge to the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde in its presentation of five significant archaeological Viking Age ships. After a detailed condition assessment of the exhibition building and the artifacts, it was concluded that the ships should be relocated to a safer new structure. In this paper, preparations for the relocation and specifications for a secure presentation of the ships in the new building, balancing both the safe exhibition of the finds and sustainability issues, are presented and discussed.
