Abstract

Elements of medieval monastic life can be told in various ways; by looking at broken pottery and animal bones from archaeological excavations or from the handwritten chronicle that tells the monks’ own story. This paper wishes to address basic daily life in a medieval Danish Cistercian cloister based on literary and archaeological sources.
