Mapping women’s work in nineteenth century Denmark – a digital history project

The aim of this project is to gain new knowledge about the labor, paid as well as unpaid, of Danish women 1834-1901, using historical big data and digital history methods. Thanks to these data and methods it is now feasible to map and analyze the labor and occupations of all Danish women based on a digitized version of the handwritten originals of the censuses. These data have not earlier been used for this purpose.
