Mette Randrup Midtgaard is a wall painting conservator at the National Museum of Denmark with a PhD in Conservation. She is responsible for the National Museum’s investigative studies of lime-based wall paintings in Danish churches, including condition assessment of the wall paintings and setting out guidelines for their conservation. She has expertise in the analyses of medieval wall paintings and the plaster/ mortar and limewash that constitute the support for the wall paintings.  

Main research areas are:
- Conservation of wall paintings and built heritage.
- Lime-based medieval wall paintings - techniques and materials.
- Historical mortar and plaster.
