Mathias Holch Kaas is specialising in Early Medieval Scandinavia, currently employed as a PhD Fellow at the National Museum of Denmark and Aarhus University. My research focus on the dynamics between population movement and cultural transformation during the Early Medieval period including the Viking Age.
As part of the DFF-funded Dark Age Economics project, I apply archaeometallurgical methods and lead isotope analyses to investigate the provenance and circulation of silver, with a particular focus on hoards and coinage
