Personal profile

Research areas

My research explores how people thought about, instigated, and responded to the unprecedented increase in global connectivity that defined the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. I have engaged with, and published on, issues concerning labour migration, maritime communities and socioeconomic development in a global perspective. By approaching topics through the lens of the people, their networks, practices as well as organisations that participated in commerce, industry and empire, my research presents numerous different engaging opportunities for future research and for contributing effectively to contemporary debates.
