Research is one of the core tasks of the Royal Danish Library and as a research institution the library increases knowledge of cultural heritage.
The daily work and assignments are qualified through research and is especially important in relation to collection, registration, conservation, availability and communication of the national collections.
The research areas range from classical literature studies and history of books to research in digital possibilities in conservation and collection development, the development of the Danish part of the internet and the use of artificial intelligence in the conservation of cultural heritage.
Research based on the collections opens them up. It makes close interdisciplinary national and international collaborations with for example universities and other research- and knowledge institutions possible. For more information on possible collaboration email: forskningsudvalget [at] kb.dk
The communication and development activities implemented as part of or as a result of research projects supports the library’s function as the National Library of Denmark.
