The aim of the Workers Museum & Labour Movement’s Library and Archives is to collect, preserve, research and disseminate both the lives of the workers and the labour movement in historical and art historical perspectives.
Research at the Workers Museum is carried out partly in connection with the institution's activities as archive and research library and more directly through close cooperation with the Society of Labour History and the journal Arbejderhistorie (BFI level 1), ongoing research projects with external researchers and self-generated research.
In recent years, the institution's research has focused on topics such as the concept of the worker, worker clothing, forced labour and slavery, unemployment insurance funds, IT workers, social democratic prime ministers, trade union organisational history, political and trade union activism, communism and teaching democracy.
