Description
The Dendro4Art database soon to be established at the RKD will add digital tree-ring measurements of c. 7,500 art objects examined and recorded by Hon. Prof. Dr. Peter Klein, Hamburg. The metadata of the Klein-archive is already at the RKD (on a tab RKDtechnical - under construction). Behind this metadata lies a vast dataset of raw tree-ring data. This comprises the measured distance between each annual ring within each single piece of wood. The raw data will through Dendro4Art serve audiences in the arts field by allowing access to the tree-ring data so that new data can be compared with the old and new knowledge about the intrinsic links between artistic works will be beneficial for the field of art history and for the understanding of past timber trade.Period | 26 May 2018 |
