Abstract
This paper examines seventeenth-century marks of Northern Netherlandish panelmakers, focusing on a craft that has received far less attention than its Southern Netherlandish counterpart. Drawing on archival research and newly compiled data from the newly launched database Marks on Art, this study uncovers details about the organization of the craft, several marks in use by Dutch panelmakers, and the characteristics of their products.
