Abstract
In the 20th century the artists have introduced new materials in the creative process.The majority of the new products were originary produced with other finalities and remarkably created to be used without the aim to worry about their conservation. Nowadays, some of those artworks created with new materials are exposed in Museums and therefore it makes that questions related to its conservation, exhibition and storage are being arrised and discussed.
The role of the study of contemporary materials from the analytical point of view and how the material characterization in the artworks is of great importance to establish the origin and durability of the objects, as it is also to characterize the pathologies to establish better preventive and palliative conservation, storage and exhibition criteria will be treated in this article through two case studies.
