CV

Jakob Ingemann Parby is a senior researcher and curator at the Museum of Copenhagen specializing in the history of migration, urban networks and infrastructures, sense history and urban regeneration following disasters. His current research focuses on sonic and aural history of Copenhagen (as PI of the Velux-funded project The Sound of Copenhagen) and the metropolitan ambitions and popular commemorative practices in European cities since 1800. In relation to this work he is currently PI of the explorative research network The Everyday Life of Urban Monuments (2024-2026) that  brings together scholars and heritage practitiones and combines perspectives from art history with the methods and insights of ethnography, urban history, landscape studies, heritage studies and museology.

Alongside his research projects he has curated numerous exhibitions as well as digital and on-site dissemination projects often with a significant element of user-involvement and user-contributions: City Streams (2007-8); Becoming a Copenhagener (2010-14); The WALL (2010-2016); Objects of Love, Works of Love (2013-15) the mobile museum The Past Exposed (2016-?) and Time Capsules – Copenhagen in the 1990s (2022). He was also lead curator of the permanent galleries at the new Museum of Copenhagen that opened in February 2020.
