Anne Rørbæk Olesen is a senior researcher at the National Museum of Denmark. Her research focuses on museum communication, design, and audience engagement. With over a decade of experience managing creative processes and producing content for exhibitions and media platforms, Olesen bridges theory and practice, specializing in co-design, conceptualization, and communication in museum contexts.

Olesen earned her PhD in Communication from Roskilde University in 2015, with a dissertation titled Co‑designing Digital Museum Communication, exploring collaborative design processes between museum professionals and digital designers. She has co-authored several peer‑reviewed articles in leading journals and edited volumes, including Museum Management and CuratorshipCoDesign, Museum & Society, and The Routledge Handbook of Museums, Media and Communication. Notable publications include “Play in Museums: A Scoping Review” (Museum Management and Curatorship, 2023) and “How Might We? Co‑constructing Recommendations on Digital and Organizational Change” (Museum Management and Curatorship, 2022).

Her current research projects include MMTP: Moving Museums Through Play (2024–2027) and Levet velfærd på museum (2023–2025), both at the National Museum of Denmark. She participated in the Danish research project DREAM in 2012-2015 and the international research project GIFT in 2017-2019.
