D. Tamis, Painted by Two Hands: Division of Labour Among Painters in the Low Countries in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries. A sizeable percentage of the paintings created in the Netherlands in the 16th and 17th centuries is attributed to more than one painter. Dorien Tamis investigates the phenomenon of collaboration in its own right, as inherent to the painter’s practice of the period.
