The Museum and the Avant-Garde

How can museums and the avant-garde meet in ways that open new perspectives on Nordic post-war art? What can museums and researchers learn from each other in the process of curating, communicating and researching Nordic modernism(s)? The Carl-Henning Pedersen and Sidsel Ramson’s Foundation is the initiator of and funding body behind this research workshop. The foundation has requested that the recommendations and resulting from the workshop are used to advance research efforts into Cobra and spontaneous abstract-expressionism. Participating researchers and museum professionals will contribute new ideas and perspectives from a series of different research areas. The research workshop will take place at Aarhus University’s conference centre. It is organised by the Department of Art History, Aesthetics and Culture & Museology in collaboration with the Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelt’s Museum.
